Security statement

All purchases made via this service (as well as satellite transactions involving payment authorization, and including HTML form submission of critical information) are handled via the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol.

SSL is a security standard supported by the latest versions of Netscape and Microsoft web browsers and is the only option supported for online ordering via the online document delivery system. Using an SSL-enabled browser in conjunction with our SSL servers ensures that all information you submit will remain confidential, unaltered, and submitted only to an "authentic" recipient (that is, one digitally certified by RSA Data Security, Inc.).

AIP consistently monitors the security status of its networks and has taken appropriate measures to build in breach detection. When using the latest versions of Netscape Navigator, for example, to conduct secure transactions, you will notice:

  • The prefix of the URL will change from http to https.
  • The "Security" icon in the toolbar (a padlock) will change from open to closed and will appear surrounded by a golden glow; the padlock icon in the lower left corner of the screen will also change from open to closed.

    Note: iconography will be different in earlier versions of Netscape Navigator or in other acceptable browsers; if you are unsure how your browser handles secure documents, refer to your documentation. In Netscape 4.x, the following security icons are used:

    SECURE MODE
    Secure Mode Enabled    		 NONSECURE MODE
    Nonsecure Mode
  • If you click on either padlock (toolbar or status bar), you can opt to either "View Certificate" (which will allow you to check the validity of the server's security certificate, as well as verify the identity of the certificate holder) or "Open Page Info" (which will display detailed security information about the document, such as level of encryption and certificate particulars). You may or may not see varying security messages during transactions, depending on browser version and configuration.

In addition we have a Verisign Seal of authenticity. Clicking on this will launch a new browser in both Netscape and MSIE. The document that will load in the new window is a "secure" document that will enable you to view this site's Digital ID.
